$190 is cheaper then a hole in the block or other damage from the sprocket coming off.

Everything is always a risk but you should be safer. You still need to get the clutched pulley. Are you planning on doing that?

Running only an alternator and water pump I should be fine on the load rating?

fDo a google search as that is how I found it. I was more nervous before I put a clutched pulley on the alt. After I did that I figured the load isn't much more then the 1.6 engines. The issue is that the keyway can't handle the torque going back and forth with the engine firing unevenly and not smooth (think-diesel rattle). Between the power steering, AC, water pump, and alternator all puting forces on this as well as the cam, oil pump, vac pump, harmonic balancer and the other weights of the rotating parts the crank sprocket is involved with. The TDI crank has a flat spot milled in to hold it so rather then a keyway that can shear the flat spot holds up better. Involves removing your crank though. I felt safe after the alt pulley being changed. If I even had AC still I would likely get TDI sprocket.

Luckily I dont have power steering and not having a/c

helps aclamate US to the heat while on our camping trips. I keep hearing about an issue with the crank shaft pulley?

I did forget to say. I did use a gass motor mount on the engine side as the holes are there. This way I could use the OEM pump bracket from the aaz. Otherwise I think some have made the 1.6 pump mount work or cut it up till it did.

With AC-mine never had it so it was a none issue. Although I wish I did have it at times in the summer.
