[Vwdiesel] Parts compatibility?

Honestly I've never found where babying a car made that much difference in mpg. Not rodding it a lot usually does though. Cases in point: My '66 Mustang 200Ci six; Drove it as soft as possible, made almost 22 (instead of a solid 21). Drove the next tank as hard as I could and made upper 20's to low 21.
Porsche 914 would drop when driven hard, rise when driven softly but really easy didn't help much, tire pressures made a huge difference.
Rabbit 1.5; After rebuilds and mods I could drive it hard enough to drop into the high 20's to low 30's. Drive it normal or easy and it seemed to do about mid 40's. Before the 5 speed it made better mpg in town than on the highway. Passat didn't much care unless driven hard or fast.
I'd guess that 45 to 50mpg would probably give the best mpg on the diesels. Over 65 hurt the 914 and best I could tell actually helped the Mustang and Chevy van (350 gas).
Contrary to many internet claims, I ALWAYS saw a mpg improvement after turning the IP fueling up to max useable (light smoke on full load). Usually drove them a little harder after doing that too. :-)

Ralph, if you limit your acceleration rates and speeds on the hills to that
f the 1.6non-turbo, you should be able to maintain the same or better fuel
conomy with the AAZ. That said, I've never met anyone with that kind of
elf control...
