I had to remove tinting from all side windows and the rear window of my
89 A2 when I got it.
Started very carefully on drivers side.
Got under the edge of it with a razor blade (don't scratch the glass)
and got enough lifted so I could get hold of it.
I think it is designed to be removable.
I got hold of the little tab and pulled it SLOWLY at 90* from the glass,
and it peeled off SLOWLY without leaving a mark.
The rest of the side windows came off without a fight. I didn't do the
back window for a month or so, but was so fed up with it, went at it
slowly, hoping to save the defroster grill. Started at a lower corner
and approached the defroster with sweaty palms. EASED it up to the wire,
and to my surprise, it parted from the defroster conductors without
trouble, much easier than the glass.
I suspect there is some kind of clever "affinity" adhesive used that
bonds to glass, but nothing else.
Anyway, pulling at 90 degrees from the glass works.
Probably helps to do it in warm weather, I did.
Can't help with the air bag, probably old corroded wiring.
