I tried that on the pickup. Should work no? Less pumping losses si? Works on paper but didn't in real life. The pickup would use a zero notch head gasket, if they made one. I put in a 3 notch. Should be about 1 point lower CR. Didn't run as snappy as before. Plan on switching back someday, when there's time... Uh huh...

I just always use the thickest head gasket specified for the engine. A VW
iesel 1.6 turbo or non turbo runs great that way.

What thickness (# of notches) of head gasket do the early turbo motors take?
thought I should be able to see the notches near the #3 or #4 glow plugs
ut so far I can't. Are the notches under the coolant-to-head connection?
