I finished changing my clutch on the 81 rabbit with 5 speed and 1.9 TD aaz engine this weekend. Found techtonics tuning had the right clutch at 210 mm. Just needed to specify it was for an 8 valve and I was good to go. Found out the clutch was getting oil on it front the push rod going through the input shaft. Clutch disks where the same thickness but it was slipping in 3rd now-not just 5th. Been happening for a while.
To the point-I went to start everything and I don't have power to the glow plugs. I get the light in the dash. I even swapped my working relay from my 81 rabbit truck. If I hotwire the plugs (jumper) then I can start it just fine. I have Roger's LED washer spayer idea installed on both so I know when there is power and if to look for a problem. I hooked a meter up then and confirmed the lack of power.
Where to I start looking?
In other news-just finished installing both rear hatch harnesses for the 04 golf since both the wires and the boots were torn through and bare copper wire was showing. It was kind of a job to do and it never fails that you break at least one plastic clip holding the parts onto the car. I still need to work on the airbag light. Removing the seat didn't fix it. I had to install the seat again as I needed to use it since the rabbit was also under the knife (clutch).
No baby yet. For those that don't know. Expecting my 3rd anytime this week possibly (official due date Nov 8th). She has always gone early-so this is the longest time so far.
