Yes, fairly easy to swap that out. Just takes a little bit of patience and
care in dealing with the circuit board/foil thing. Every time I've had one
go bad, it's a little gear that's either out of place or broken - always
the same gear. It's easy to fix. I've replaced it with a spare gear once,
but usually I drill the hole out a little bit to take care of the cracked
gear - it's an interference fit and gets pushed open. Then I'll super glue
it back together and on the shaft so it won't slide around.

I can't EVER push the reset button for the trip meter while the car is in
motion, or the gear gets pushed out of place and I have to disassemble
everything. Maybe on mine it needs a bit of sanding on the shaft to give
the glue something to hold onto and I should glue it again. For now I just
know to never touch the button if I'm moving at all and it's worked well
for 100k plus.

Good luck!
