[Vwdiesel] Hangars hillbilly diesel tuning

 I am trying to get a 82 rabbit diesel running that sat around my garage. I had to switch an engine and change out engine mounts so I Switched the injection pumps and I am trying to get it started. My diesel timing gauge isn't working right, it doesn't seem to move across the gauge as the plunger is pushed in consistently, it sticks, sometimes turns sometimes doesn't. I remember a description from years ago from Hagar for hillbilly tuning. I am hoping to get the car started and take it to a local VW mechanic friend who can time it proper. Does anyone have the description on how to do this.
