[Vwdiesel] pump priming

Last time I had to bleed a pump ('00 TDI), I used a Mity-Vac on the return line.  Worked well and I wasn't as worried about introducing dirt on the feed side.  Fortunately, I don't regularly have to prime the system.  I do, however, like the idea of the on-pump primer that the old MB Diesels had.  Nice to know it's there if you need it.

I bought a gauge for the injection pump on the first one I ever did. Couldn't get it to work. Later found out after my brother attempted to use it that there was a broken pin in there. I only hillbilly tuned all of mine and seem to get good MPG. To bleed the injections pumps/filters I install a hand pump bulb that you can get from almost any boating section. I found Fleet Farm has them the cheapest but Walmart also carries them as would other stores with boating sections. Seems to hold up with diesel just fine. Had mine installed in 07 and running good yet. The truck I have near the tank. But the car I routed up in the engine bay since there wasn't room by the tank-and it is easier in the engine bay-one man operation that doesn't spill as much fuel.
