[Vwdiesel] Hagar's hillbilly tuning

Not sure just when it was. It all started in r.a.m.vw.watercooled on usenet. There were getting to be enough posts about diesels, and they/we were getting sick of the attitudes from the gasser crowd so a few people started kicking around the ideal of a vw.watercooled.diesel sort of thing. A couple different lists started up, one on yahoo I believe but usenet was too much hassle so one or two started and failed. Then Kirby took it upon himself to start up an automated mailing list instead. I think sign-up was manually done by him. Then it evolved a little then after a couple years he had to let it go and someone else took over, revamped the process for it and had to wipe everyone and re-up. That had a bit of a changeover as well then I forget just how and why but Dan took over, making it pretty much fully automated.
Surprisingly through all that, there were very few crashes, no disasters and it all carried on as a no-attachment, no imbedding mailing list that's pretty much the same today as it was in the Kirby days. Behind the scenes is undoubtedly different but like most websites, we don't see any of that.

The Kirby List, was that before 1994 or 95?? How far back was that? I vaguely remember seeing that way back when I joined up with the wonderful list and vw Diesel minds.
