[Vwdiesel] Tires

We don't need snow tires much here in NC. There are a ton of used tire
places, seems that they have popped up in the past year or so everywhere.
The selection of snow tires would be minimal since it isn't a common tire
here.  The tires on my jetta are getting up in age, I think they are six
years old now but still have good tread on them. Not to bad on the side
walls for cracks.  I still have the steel set of rims I took off the jetta
when  a friend gave me his snowflake wheels. I wonder if I can sell the
steels on Craigs list?

13's have gotten hard to get, here anyway so I've gone the used tire route
on snows anyway.  I've been given several good, used tires but most will fit
the 5kTD which is far from running.  A few fit the Rabbits and I plan to use
them up.  Only bad ones were some really nice looking recaps my friend gave
me.  One delaminated on him but we figured it was a fluke.  Nope, all 3 I
got, had separation and I got rid of them.
   Thanks to Doyt, I looked up some tires, found a cheap place online,  with
free shipping and I'll likely buy a pair of soft compound  tires, to fit the
Rabbit/pickup, for just over $100.  :-D  They only offer 3 snows to fit and
these Generals, rate highest and are priced about lowest.

I did that once with 13 inch tires. By the time I bought them. Had them
mounted nd balanced and then had a blowout (not just a leak-a complete blow
out) within ne tank of fuel I decided against used as I could have bought
part of the new nes by then.

Getting carce to find anything smaller than 16" tires anymore.  Found some
on raigslist but don't have 5 hours to go, look and bring home.  :-P  To
cheap to uy new.
