pat, i will recheck the lower control arm for movement
stephen, the tires are new though could be out of balance
this wobble did occur with old tires i had on the car. i needed tires going forward and was going throughthe suspension doing what was needed thinking i would align when finished.

Check your lower control arm bushings too.

Jack the front end up, and try to move the wheel in and out and left and right, check where the lower control arm is mount for movement.

hello all, my mechanic has suggested it is due to a strut mount.we have ruled out tire out of balance and ball joint wear.when raised off the ground, grabbing the wheel at 9 and 3 and working backand forth i do see some out of round movement at the strut top

should i presume that it is the mount or bushing inside the mount

the car is a 90 passat, shocks were/are seemingly ok-no bounce, bottoming or oil leakbefore i pull the strut out i thought i would ask here, i can drive the car though i do get awobble at 57 to 60 and when i lightly brake. i do have a 91 jetta strut assembly which from my search is the same part, only the mount is different.is there any benefit to swapping in this strut or am i just making more work for my self.the new mount is available locally and by autohauz.

thanks again and happy spring!
