I do not know the different color speedo gears and so cannot answer your
specific question...
I can give a bit of other info that you might find helpful, though...
Here's my take. Take it with a grain of salt as I am not a speedo expert
but have adjusted a couple to read reasonably well. I assume that your
speedo is a uniform 4 MPH fast as otherwise you would have given several
speedo/gps readings. Unfortunately, if the speedo is a uniform 4 MPH off
then the speed of the cable is actually correct for your speedo but
incorrect for your odo. All you would need to do to get the speedo to read
correctly is pull the needle off and the install it 4 MPH lower and 'bob's
your uncle'. Unfortunately as the odo is directly geared and the gearing
is incorrect, so you will need to change the speedo gear on the end of the
cable in order to correct the odo. That gear change will then make it so
your speedo is variably inaccurate. It will read the same 4MPH fast at
first and then gradually get to the point where it is correct and then at
higher speeds it will read low... You will need to mess with the speedo
adjustment to get it to read correctly AFTER you get the odo to be
correct. Increasing the spring tension will cause the speedo to read
progressively lower. Decreasing the spring tension will cause it to read
progressively higher. Once you have the speedo spring adjusted so that it
is again consistently incorrect across the range of speeds, move the needle
so that it is then consistently correct.
