[Vwdiesel] Odometer

Today, I noticed that I was no longer logging miles on the Caddy :( I 
have super glued the gear previously. When the odometer stops for the 
second time, is that a sign the glue has failed and needs replaced? Is 
there any type of glue that holds the gear in place forever?
I have noticed rough starts even when we don't have zero weather. Is 
this a sign that a glow plug has given up the ghost?
