[Vwdiesel] Egt for 1.6td

I have rabbit pickup motorhome which I built. It currently has 1.6td with egt probe located at after turbo downpipe where it curves downward. Because of weight, 14 inch bus tires/wheels and wind resistance it can fly into red zone on the gauge so I am careful to slow down when that happens usually on long upgrades. I cruise about 55-60mph using and stay in green or yellow temp zone when on flat terrain. Sorry Im overseas now so cant say the exact temperature.  Im happy with the "smoke screw" adjustment. My question is how accurate is this gauge with the probe at the curved downpipe exhaust turbo location?
