I had a spare tire tank in my old '78 Rabbit and it held right at 10 gallons as I recall.
I think I was able to put 22 gals. of gas in with my biggest fill-up.

I installed by auxiliary fuel tank and was surprised when the car needed 18 plus gallons to fill from nearly empty. Can anyone confirm for me that the round tanks that fit in the spare tire well is 10 gallons? I originally thought it was only 5 gallons but I have found numbers online from 5 gallons to 9.2 so anyone know for sure?

I would like to have some data points as to the temperatures you see at highway speed, specifically around 65 mph. Just let me know if you are post or pre turbo. Mine seems to be running between 400-500 degrees F at that speed and will pretty quickly touch 600 with just a bit of acceleration. I am trying to decide if I want to try and install an instant read digital meter pre-turbo before I head west in March with my little 750 lb tent camper behind. Anyone installed a pre-turbo sender with the engine still in the car? If so, exactly where did you install it? I see that I can get to the exhaust manifold from the driver’s side but would it be better to try and reach from underneath and drill into the point where the turbo is bolted to the manifold? Feedback would be helpful. Thanks, Hayden
