My 1.9NA head was converted to use that standard 1.6 valve cover.I fought with oil leaks for years.I found it to be an issue with the cork valve cover and the rubber cap that goes over the cam shaft bearing hump in the front of motor.I then started using a dab of gasket sealer on each side to keep the ears of the cork gasket into the orange rubber thing.not sure if you mean the standard rubber 1.6 - 8 stud type of the 1.9TD 3 center hold down type.

Possibly cam seal? Mine was leaking from the can seal with the appearance
of a valvecover gasket leak
