[Vwdiesel] Turbo noise

I'm hearing an extra noise in the 2000.  As near as I can tell, it kind of
sounds like a turbo-related whine.  I can't hear it at idle, but there's a
distinct whine under load.  I had thought it was the intercooler line let
ago again, but it's not the usual cheap, easy fix.  I've never actually
dealt with the turbo before.  Any guidance on QC checking the turbo?
