OK after injuring my right shoulder for the third time, installing a garage door opener (maybe I should just stop working overhead), I struggled for 3 days fighting the shifter and the traffic driving back and forth to work.  Finally on Wednesday evening, I decided that this old body has reached the point where a manual transmission, although fun to drive, is just not feasible anymore.  So, I went to my local VW dealer and drove home in a new Jetta TDI.  More on that later but now to the real reason I am writing.  I am going to sell the 82 and I wanted to offer it here first to those that really know what a diesel is.  I will then list it on the SAMBA and some local websites before heading to Ebay.  I won’t take up too much space here but as a reminder here are some of the specs:
93 RA code GTD engine
CHD 5 speed trans (“freeway flyer”)
intercooler with auxiliary water pump for the water cooled turbo
Auxiliary fans for intercooler and AC condensor
Injector pump was redone by Giles in Canada and can handle 15 psi
High flow GTD injectors
4 new Firestone Affinity tires mounted on tear drop wheels
10 gallon Auxiliary fuel tank.
AC works but needs a new compressor clutch as it only works on fan speed 3 or 4
From seats are from a Corrado and are VERY comfortable and have many adjustments very good shape with no holes although one place on the drivers side is showing some wear on the vinyl bolster
Front suspension - Cabriolet struts and brakes with a Scirocco 16 valve front torsion bar and an after market tie bar for the front suspension (makes is tight and nice)
Rear suspension - Scirocco 16 valve rear struts and disc brakes, stock Jetta torsion bar
Both front and rear have really heavy duty stiff springs, car isn’t lowered but handles like it was
Stock front bumper with collapsed shocks absorber mounts (brings bumper closer to the car), rear Rabbit euro bumper, slightly trimmed to fit body contours, with integrated Euro trailer hitch with 4 wire trailer wiring.
Battery has been relocated to the trunk
Lots of other stuff too
Not a bad car body is in decent shape considering I pulled it out of the grass in Pennsylvania.  I have found and fixed any rust spots that I can but there may be others lurking that I couldn’t see.  The strut towers are NOT rusted.
Paint is horrible but I guess that some might say it has “patina”
As you all know, I just drove the car from here in Dallas/Ft. Worth to Las Vegas and back with no problems except for a wonky EGT gauge (I have a new one to replace that) and having the oil cooler/warmer leak.  I have fixed that with a Volvo oil cooler adaptor and 2 pass cooler.  The cooler needs to be replaced with one in better shape and more permanently mounted.
It has a new radiator but I have saved the original and really wanted to put it back in the car after having it cleaned.
I also have 4 used GTD injectors and an extra turbo injection pump that leaks from the cold start area (I used this while I have the injection pump rebuilt)
I also installed good Euro headlights with relays to greatly increase their brightness.
Odometer has broken, AGAIN, but I have another one that will go with the car.

I would really like to get $4000 for the car, considering the new tires and other stuff but…..make me a decent offer above $3000 and we can talk. If it seems that I can’t sell the car, then I may just part it out over a period of several months.
