If the saw has been sitting for a few months with old gas, it probably has a clogged carb. My son put his mower away without running it dry, and I could get it to run on ether. I had to remove the jet and blow it out with compressed air to clear it. I put it back together and it started right up. Google how to remove and clean your carb. The mower had a single “bolt” on the bottom of the carb that was actually the jet. Small engine carbs are simple, so don’t be afraid to dig into it.
