When I had a problem with insurance, my agent told me to let him handle it,
that it was part of his job. He got them straightened out in a hurry. So I
would suggest at least talking to your insurance agent. In fact, they might
not want you talking directly with the other company. Mine wasn't my fault
at all, but my insurance still stepped up and made sure I was taken care of
by the other company. It ended up being a pretty good experience only
because of that.
