[Vwdiesel] Performance camshaft?

I would not suggest a cam - as the majority of their benefit requires a 
lot of other work to make use of it, and even then, it is to extend the 
power UP the rev range.  You might even lose out in the rev range you 
normally use. 
 
The answer for what you need is more HP from more torque, not more HP 
from higher RPM.  That translates easily into more air and more fuel, 
all of which is easily done in ANY diesel.   I would start with a 
Giles pump, and some bigger injectors until you hit smoke.  I have 
ported that head, and there is a LOT more flow available there as well. 
 End game is bigger turbo as well.  You can go a long way until you 
start breaking rods (better available) and lifting the head (use ARP 
studs to help there).
