On a related note, I picked up a 2000 Golf TDI in Kenosha WI around the end
of August from a friend, the original owner. He had been daily driving it
until hid daughter got her license, then she took over. It came off the
road in April of this year because the original VNT15 turbo failed, at
409,000 miles.

I've been picking away at sourcing parts, and have pretty much all I need
now. Found a used VNT15 with around 140k on it but what took the longest
was locating a hatch and left front fender in Satin Silver, from what I can
tell a one year only color for the A4 Golfs. Ended up having to drive to
two different junkyards in RI from here in NH to get them.

Can't wait to get it all back together and see how far I can find the
odometer up. Will need a set of tires and a windshield then a shake down to
see what else once it is on the road. Won't be surprised if I need to empty
out the cat after having all that oil pass through it.
