Hey, when I was in Germany in the fall of 2004 I went to the plant in Wolfsburg and they were making the Variant.  I have a cool model I bought, wagon.  I have never seen one in USA, did they bring them into Canada?List is still up, but no traffic anymore.
One of my retirement projects is to put a m-TDI into my van, the 1.9TD AAZ is not much more powerful then my 1.9NA.I will try putting intercooler on it, that should give it a little more HP.
My work buddy kept his 08 Passat TDI, he got the "FIX", now he said the motor is very noisy now and fuel mileage dropped to 34MPG from 44MPG. Bryan Belman, Pt. Still here, but also have seen no posts in a very long time.

Took Mamma's '03 Jetta Variant off the street this fall - tailgate is rusted and going to newer turbo installation with larger SMIC and billet compressor.  Also, with 340,000 kms. will go through suspension and everything else when it can come into the shop for tailgate and front fenders (rust there too).

Started to get panicky about VW screwing up the diesel world so badly, so spent a month looking for the lowest mileage '14 or '15 Q7 I could find in Western Canada.  Also wanted one without much of the electronic junk that will be impossible to support in 10 or 15 years.  Found a '15 with under 60k kms and absolutely as new plus a set of forged 18" Audi wheels and Pirelli studless winters came with it.  it is a post emission fix car, so will leave it alone while the extended warranty is in effect.  It is a very different car/trruck, great tow potential, good cargo space.
