It is indeed the so-called "active" system.  By "know what you're doing", are
you referring only to speaker impedance matching, or is there something more
subtle?

I don't have any hard evidence, but the sound shop claimed to know that the
Audi systems are not compatible.  They may be full of it, but that would seem
to be poor business.

Do you have a Coupe Quattro, and if so, have you upgraded the stereo?
