power windows

To fellow Audi owners,

The power windows (driver and passenger ones) on my 1984 5000S are not
working properly.  They are both getting stuck coming up and seem to
be slow.  The motors sound ok, at least they sound like they are 
engaging when switched on.  The windows also make a horrible crunching
sound, like they are being steam rolled, but they don't crack or break.


I am assuming that they are out of alignment.  Do they need any type
of lubrication?  Any ideas or tricks on aligning them would great.
