Or there could be a head gasket leak, does it loose any coolant?
(pressure loss?)
Or there could be a restriction (scale) in the engine block.
Or the ignition is too(too too) far advanced, engine knocking.
Or thermostat does not open, very unlikely on a new one though.
On my Audi the temp drops at highway speeds.
