Water pumps - 91 Coupe

My 91 Coupe Quattro is about to go onto its FOURTH
water pump. This is after only 37500 miles!!

First replacement was at 7500, second at 22500.
Now that one is leaking and needs replacing.

The dealer can't find (so far) anything that may
be causing these failures - they feel it is just
a run of bad luck!?!

Anyone have a similar experience - any suggestion 
as to a possible cause?

Apart from this problem I love the car.
