RE: Which shocks/struts?

I have an 86 5000CS TQ. I "had" adjustable Koni's on the front for a while. I
think they are terrible.

        a) One of them "wore out" after 85K miles (not a mile too soon).

        b) The Koni's are "double acting", meaning they dampen on both the up
and down stroke. Sounds like a good idea, but it makes the ride horrible. The
OEM struts only dampen on the way down making the initial "thump" of a bump
dissapear.

        c) The adjustables I had were hydraulic. There was no static expanding
force with these struts. I have recently heard that this expanding force was
"designed in" to the front suspension and is good thing.

I now have Boge TS gas stuts in the front. They are wonderful.

I have Koni hydraulics in the rear since that was the only thing available 2+
years ago for a 5000Q.
