Re: Steel wheels for snow tires?
I have had the fortune to sample a number of different snow tires,
although mostly on FWD cars, and without a doubt the Nokia Hakkapolita 10
is the winner. They have excellent lateral and longitudinal grip, are
impressively quiet (much more so than some of the cheap all-seasons I've
seen), still handle well in the dry, and are inexpensive. I found the
Pirellis and Vredestein snows to be rather crude in comparison.
Actually Nokia makes a line of decent all-season (read: good summer, usable
winter) tires as well - the `Rollster'. Also very inexpensive.
