AC -- the power black hole...

Errors-To: No-one@aries.east.sun.com

My AC pulls a tremendous amount of power. It's funny, if I need to accelerate
"agressively", I kick the AC off. Once I forgot it was on, and kicked it off
while accelerating....instant turbo. SERIOUSLY, it felt like the turbo I
never had! The tone of the engine changed dramatically and you could feel
a change in the acceleration "g-force" almost immediately.

Do you suppose the computer monitors whether the AC is on and adjusts the engine
, or does it just compensate for the idle drop? Ideally, it should adjust for
max power and screw gas mileage. Strangely, my gas mileage is affected very
little by running the AC.
