Hood Cable Breaks!!!

I recently posted a question about power steering
fluid. I got many replies (btw, my 4000s uses the mineral
	oil stuff) & am grateful...

So here I am, ready to drain & refill. I pull on the
hood latch & the thing breaks. IThe cable broke about
2 inches down from the ball end. I clipped a piece
of the braided housing to get access to the cable, but
it wasn't enough. I noticed the braided line was
moved easily & pulled it all off in hopes of being able to
reach the cable. Well it worked, so I figured I can
pull it with a plier to open it up & then I would replace it.
But unfortunately, It seems to have binded or frozen somewhere,
& now I cannot open the hood.

	What to do....

BTW, this was after a 9 hour drive in very severe rain (for 80% of
the time). D'ya think lubrication got washed off ??? I also notice
some "creaking" sounds right under the clutch... same thing perhaps?

	Thanks in advance....

	George
