Hello All:

I am the Ali with the original tranny question. Here is the end of the
story:

I took the car to the dealer as per the recall letter and informed them
of the vvrr noise. They replaced the final drive oil with some synthetic
oil and informed me that it had to be inspected and topped of if nessecary
every 15,000 miles. They gave me two coupons for a free final drive oil
inspection. About the noise, they said it was probably tire noise from the
front tires.

I replaced the front tires but the noise persisted. I returned to the
dealer and this time they said that it was a bad front wheel bearing.
I replaced the bearing myself and the noise disapeared. Thats the end
of the story. As of today that is :)

I have put in about 10,000 miles after the recall oil change and so far
I have not noticed anything unusual from the transmission. It seems
that there was no sever damage done prior to the oil change.

Also, from the attitude of the dealer, it didn't seem like a big deal
to them in contrast to the recall letter.

Good luck,

ali-
