This one is wide open. It could be as simple as a bad fuel pump
relay.... or might be that the timing belt broke and you have
some serious damage in the engine.

It is possible to get complete replacement engines at foreign
car junkyards, but you are taking a bit of a risk there too. 
And its quite an undertaking to replace an engine.

Take a friend who is also a good mechanic, and try and see if 
together you can verify that all the engine mechanicals are
working correctly. A bad engine controller, fuel pump, ignition
unit can all be fixed at a reasonable cost ( if you stay away
from the dealer ). Guess at the probable worst case repair cost
and decide if its worth taking a chance.
