Gearing on 4000 and 5000-series cars can be VERY different. My '84 4000Q
turns 4000 RPM at 80 MPH, my '97 5000CS Quattro Wagon turns only 3000 RPM
at 80 MPH. This will have a *BIG* difference on fool consumption. Walter's
finding of 27 MPG highway with the 4000 sounds right on the money from my
experience, however, the much larger and heavier Turbo 5000 Wagon can get
28-30 MPH highway -- no problem. So, even though the drivetrain might
be "the same", gearing and aerodynamics make a BIG difference!
