Re: 1984 Coupe GT?
My '84 has the 2.2 liter, low compression engine (without the knock
sensor), and I think that was standard for the GT. Perhaps the standard
coupe came with the 2.1 liter engine.
I don't think my gear ratios are at all close ratio, especially in
comparison to my 86 Jetta. The Audi does 3100 rpm at 80mph in fifth,
and there is a big jump from first to second. I went to the local
Audi dealer and checked the microfiche for available gear ratios,
and it appeared (it was hard to be sure - the information is pretty
hard to interpret) that there was no lower ratio gearbox provided
for the 84.
