connectors

My 1982 Audi 80 was suffering from a number of electrical problems, so armed with my trusty DVM I went outside to rectify all its ailments. A full eight hours later and hey presto, everything is now ok.

My gripe here is that every fault was tracked down to connectors (mainly into the back of the fuse box) which had oxidsed to some extent. Does anyone know how much it would cost the manufacturers to gold plate these little critters? I suppose the car is old but these things rely heavily on their electrical systems.

Do more modern Audis have better electrical connectors?
