Bentley manual that deals with 84 through 88 Audi 5000s has an excellent description of the meaning of codes and how to get them. I can look up and write you how to get them, but description of the meaning of this codes takes couple pages, so to interpret them you need the manual anyway. Don't know about 4000s. Vladimir
