I've done this. It's not difficult. 
Remove the steering wheel and instruments. Reach  in and disconnect the
connector, loosen the set screw and remove switch. Reverse to install new
switch.
My switch caused the opposite problem...hard starting. One other symptom
was the idiot lights on the lower part of the instrument cluster wouldn't
light up. When these lights did come on the car started OK.
