I already tried 5W Mobil 1 to lessen lifter noise. It actually made things
worse for the 1st week after each oil change. (??)   I tried everything to
quiet them down.  A friend of mine tried everything too.  As I mentioned, I
replaced the lifters, and it was the only thing that worked.  I'd save the
money of trying to discover this all over again.  I never hear the lifters
anymore.
