There was an extensive discussion about a month ago in r.a.vw about syntetic
oil in manual trannys. They seemed to agree the Red Line product worked OK.
There were several different weights/blends so investigate carefully what
might work best for you. If you can't find it locally, Pegasus sells it.
I have their number at home if you need it.

Synthoil also makes many types of synthetic gear lubes. Call them at
1-800-843-7733. They can connect you to one of their engineers who can
match you up with the product you need...
