Synthetic...

Well, I went to Checker Autoparts to buy some synthetic motor oil and was
treated by the salesman who, after asking me about my car, said that 90K miles
was too late to start using synthetic and that I should stick to regular oil. 
He also recommended adding "DuraLube", an oil-additive; however, my manual
says that "Audi does not recommend the use of oil additives..."..

SO:
	1) is it true that Synth oil is useless @ 90K miles?
	2) is this DuraLube stuff worth it?
