RS2 turbochargers

There is a guy here in Boulder who has an RS2 turbo on his 5000 TQ. This
5000 has been developed over the last couple of years and is rumored to have
over 300hp with the 10V engine. He showed up at the quattro club event in
Denver last summer for a few hours, and people were pretty interested in his
car. Ned Ritchey was very impressed with the performance of it. The owner
is using one of Neds computers in the car. The word I heard was that he got
the turbo from Germany and that it was big bucks. It probably makes sense
that one could be designed to the same specs here by any turbo house or Ned
could probably put one together. I have no idea of what the specs are for
this turbo.

An article I read recently about the Nothell tweaked S2s says that the RS2
uses a bigger turbo than the standard S2, but Nothell goes down a different
path. The normal turbine section is retained, but with a different rotor,
driving a larger compressor section. This is to ensure that the turbocharger
responds just as quickly, but pumps more air. The article mentions that the
Nothell S2 is making a little over 300 hp , right around the stock RS2 and
that there is much potential left in the RS2. He is planning a 400hp version
that car.
