YES! In spite of the MUCH lower compression, the MC and ur-Quattro engine
(all 10V Turbos, I think) are definitely interference engines. As has been
ponited out, there is a very tall area around the outer perimiter of these
pistons, with a very deep dish (combustion chamber) in the center of the
piston. The large diamater valves *DO* interfere with the high outer edge
of these pistons. I can actually see the marks on the tops of these
surrounds where the (now very bent) valves impacted them. Someday, if I

I might actually get this engine put back together!
