Re: 5000 Tires, WAS: Differential Locking -Reply
Well Mark ... I'm not Shannon, but I can (and will :) ) relate my tire
experiences.
I like the Dunlop D60-A2 M+S tires that I have on my 5000CSQ Wagon.
The size is 205/60-15. From your message it almost sounds like you
have 16 inch wheels though. I also have a set of BF Goodrich Comp TA
HR-4 in the same size on my TQC. When I bought the ur-Q it had the
standard 215/50-15 Pirelli Rally tires installed. After the belts
all broke (may have been the previous owner) I mistakenly went to
205/50-15 Gatorbacks. The ride was much more harsh and I ended up
bending 4 Ronal R8's. I don't think that the car handles much worse
with the taller tires, and the ride is very nice. (I also noticed that
the cruise control seemed to be more abrupt with the smaller tires).
The only time I've ever been stuck in the snow was with the TQC and
Gatorbacks ... but I live in the lowlands of CA!
I'd appreciate a posting when you make your decision along with a
rating on the tires you get. I'll be needing to replace both the
D60's and the Comp TAs soon.
