Yes, you have to remove the motor mount to replace that belt.  It is
the same for the 80-84 4000.  If I remember correctly you have to support
the engine across the front top, using a couple 2x4s put across the fender 
supports and then hooked into the "hook" on the front of the engine.

I think that is how I did this on my 82 diesel! (Was so long ago that 
my mind is kind of hazy...)

You may also be able to support the engine from underneath in the front with
a jack.
