re:Porsche, Audi, BMW Factory Tour info

Here is the information requested on making reservations to visit the
German car factories.

Porsche Cars North America, Inc.
100 West Liberty Street
P.O. Box 30911
Reno, Nevada 89520-3911

At Porsche I spoke with Karen Evans (Tourist delivery department) at (702)
348-3244 to arrange the tour at the plant in Zuffenhausen (a suburb 5
miles outside Stuttgart). Karen sent me an info packet with a map and
details on the tour. I made reservations two weeks before I was to arrive
in Stuttgart. This was in October which may be less crowded than the
Summer months. Tours are available at 10am and 2pm. There were english and
german tours available when I was there.

Porsche Museum (Next to the factory, free admission)
Hours M-F 9:30-12:00, 1:30-4:00pm (also open on weekends, hours are
different)

Audi AG
Neuwagenabholung (New car delivery or production?)
Audi factory at Neckarsulm, 40 miles north west of Stuttgart.

I originally contacted Audi of America at 1-800-822-AUDI but was told that
tours were available at the Ingolstadt factory. This information was
incorrect at the time (as pointed out by a quattro list individual). The
Ingolstadt factory tours were not available because of the retooling
underway for the new A4 sedan. I had my business contact in Austria call
Audi in Germany and arrange the tour at Neckarsulm. After arriving at the
AUDI visitors center in Neckarsulm, I realized that a reservation was not
needed, and that the tour was in German. I don't know if English speaking
tours are available from Audi. I was told by Audi of America that the
Neckarsulm phone number is (from US) 011 49 713 2311. The phone number for
Audi (Ingolstadt, Germany) is 011 49 841 890, Fax is
841 89 1148. The Audi U.S representative mentioned that there are also
tours available at the VW Wolfsburg plant. Audi did not have a Museum but
at the visitors center they did have the Quattro boutique gift shop
(Quattro GmbH, Postfach 1144, D-74148 Neckarsulm, Telelfon-Nr
07132/31-1497). At the entrance to the plant there were some NSU vehicles
on display.

BMW AG
Petuelring 130
80788 Munich	(Across the street from the Olympic village)
Tel: 089 382-23639
(In the U.S. contact Goetz Gerlach at 1-800-932-0831 for tour
reservations, FAX (201) 307-4003) I made my reservations two weeks in
advance.

Tour starting time 1:15 p.m. (Tour lasts 2 1/2 hours)
April-Mid-October: Every workday
Mid-October - April: Monday, Thursday, Friday
(Watch out for the German Holidays)

Tour covers 3-Series Sedans (4 door) and Compact (2 door)
Minimum age for tour is 14 Yrs.

BMW Museum Hours (adjacent to the factory)
Entrance time: Monday-Sunday 9am-4pm
Closing time: 5pm
Entrance fee: 4.5DM ($3)

There is also the Mercedes Factory and Museum located in Stuttgart but I
have no information on contacting Mercedes or making reservations.
