Fuel-line replacement experiences ...
Convinced by the collective wisdom of the net, I finally ordered
a replacement fuel line for the one I ruined last week while
attempting to change the filter. I'm about $45 poorer, but I no
longer have vision of incendiary gasoline ...
Fairly straightforward job, but turned out to be really tedious.
It ended up taking me close to three hours to get it done. The
only tricky part (surprise!) is the removal and insertion of the
line. If anyone ever has to do this, the trick is to get the pipe
over to the drivers side of the windshield fluid reservoir bracket.
Removal/insertion is then a matter of finding the right angles at
which the line will go through.
The clamps which hold the delivery and return lines are easy to
take off (screwdriver in the center locking tab), but really hard
to put back. I left one or two clamps unfastened, but they seem
to be in relativel rigid spans of the line. Hopefully it will
be OK.
