But is the battery in the 90Q located under the back seat?  I think
Duane was making the point that batteries located there fare better
than those underhood.  I have also found this to be true, in fact, the
OEM battery in the the '72 VW S-bug I owned (not shown below due to
space limitations) lasted through SEVEN New Hampshire winters!

As for fire problems caused by seat springs, this is caused by a
missing positive connection insulating cover, or fitting a battery
which has none.  The newer cars also have a vent/drain hose which
attaches to a fitting on the battery and provides for outside disposal
of hydrogen gas/excess acid.
