Thanks for everyones advice on the KYBs.  Just for completeness,
they were replaced with Boge gas struts.  I can't recall the exact
model though.  My baby is still in the shop waiting for a new exhaust.
I went for the Leitzrits (oh, I can never remember how to spell that,
no german blood here...) sport exhaust.

Long term I'm considering having the head rebuilt with some honest 
performance adds like a Schrick cam, ported, polished, etc...
According to the dude who can do it, the car would have about 180hp
after the mods.  Has anyone out there done something similar to a 
vintage 4000q (86 4000csq)?
