Re: Re:Fuel filter intervals...

PDQSHIP is the appropriate plate to hang on the back, I thought... the 5ktq
is easily modified to 240hp with the addition of a computer modification
(read more boost), with a higher rate spring in the wastegate(60hp), and a hp
cam (20hp)... The nice thing about the whole project, is that the computer
and spring are about a 45min job with a phillips head and a 10mm box wrench.
The other mods are a bit more detailed and yield mild increases in hp. The
Euro 5kTQs use an adjustable preload on the wastegate spring, and the
threaded boss is on the usa models. This is great for those cold days in
winter, and allows adjustment in the range of +/- 4 pounds of boost (on 94
Octane fuel). The Max Bar reading from the Stock computer is roughly 1.3
wheareas the basic mods allows for 1.6/7. I currently have the Max at 2.0,
but only see that on the coldest days. The porting of the head and
competition valve job yeilds roughly 25hp. Currently looking to hit the 300
mark with the addition of Extrude Honing the Intake, Head, Exhaust and Turbo.
Unfortunately, since this is the daily driver in the winter, it looks like
I will have to explore the used purchase of some of these items to reduce the
"lag" time of the upgrade. Right now, the 0-60 times are in the low 6's and
the passing characteristics on a two lane road rival my friends new M3!
Quite a hoot for the bucks invested!
